Rest The Case Hosts Insightful Panel on Social Justice and Legal Inclusion

Pune (Maharashtra) [India]: In observance of World Day of Social Justice, Rest The Case successfully hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice.” The event gathered esteemed legal experts to examine how legal frameworks can foster inclusivity, bridge societal gaps, and promote fairness in governance and business practices.

The distinguished panel featured Adv. Dipika Panchmatia, Partner at Vigil Juris Advocates and Solicitors, specializing in insolvency law and corporate litigation, and Adv. Christopher Manoharan, a corporate law expert at Cornerstone Law Firm with over 30 years of experience in M&A, venture capital, and trademark litigation.

The panelists delved into the role of legal systems in driving social justice, analyzing the effects of recent statutory reforms. Discussions covered corporate governance, labor laws, and diversity policies as instruments for empowering marginalized communities and ensuring legal accessibility. They underscored challenges such as high litigation costs and procedural complexities, identifying technology as a crucial enabler for bridging these gaps—especially for rural and economically disadvantaged populations. The role of social justice movements, including the impact of public interest litigations (PILs), was also explored as a catalyst for legal reforms.

The conversation extended to corporate responsibility, emphasizing how businesses can promote social justice through ethical legal compliance and diversity-driven policies. Legal technology was a focal point, with discussions on AI’s role in ensuring fair legal processes while addressing concerns about potential biases.

Shreya Sharma, Founder & Director of Rest The Case, remarked, “Justice isn’t just about laws; it’s about creating a system where every individual, regardless of their background, has an equal opportunity to thrive.” The session reinforced the urgency for legal reforms, technological advancements, and greater accessibility to justice, aligning with the broader goal of an equitable and inclusive society.
