Real Love by Senthil Shenbagam Pillai

I loved Seema, she was a simple girl from a middle class family. She was wheatish, had long silky hair and looked pretty in Indian outfit. She was always my best friend and supported me in my hard times and the entire college knew we cannot live apart even for a day. It all started when I bashed my own friend, Arjun for passing a awkward comment on her, she was quite impressed with me and took the first step

to start our friendship and the rest is history. We were the best buddies and it was anyone’s guess that we will fall for each other and get married.

Seema: When we getting married..

Me : But, you want to complete graduation first right..

Seema : Yes, maybe next year.

Me : I can’t wait, what if someone else comes in my life and forget you..

Seema: ( giggles) You may forget me, hate me, I will always love you..

( Life is full of uncertainty )

Pooja joined our college and I suddenly felt people around me wanting her eagerly. She was fair with a height of 5’9, lovely face and a attractive figure. She was rich and there was no match, it would be embarrassing even to think of befriending her but I did felt like meeting her, talking to her and maybe go out for a date…

My gf was obviously not aware of my new crush and was busy with her life. Recently , we had a small fight and she wanted a break-up, I knew it was temporary but I was not fine with it. The reason for the fight was the same old one, I wanted to get married this year and she wanted to postpone it. We had a

heated argument and I banged the door and came out, I was lost in negative thoughts and suddenly a hand pushed me and I fell down on the other side of the road. A truck had just passed by and I was literally killed, if I was not pushed on the other side. It was a busy highway and the truck drivers had no time for the pedestrians. I was lucky today, I looked at the person who saved me, it was my new crush.

She was angry on me as she had some bruises on her arm while trying to push me away from the huge vehicle. She just walked away and I was ashamed of my carelessness. I immediately ran towards her and apologized and also thanked her. She was kind enough to forgive me. We become good friends and soon, we started meeting after college almost everyday. I was getting carried away with her flawless beauty and superb figure. I was totally mad about Pooja now and was ready to sacrifice my gf love.

I was happy with Pooja and she also was keen to proceed further. We were going around for a month and she confessed her love and requested me to meet her mom and talk about our future plans. I readily agreed and was confident she will approve our togetherness. Now, there was a twist, suddenly, my gf had started messaging me for the last couple of days and I was confused what to do. I started

avoiding her calls, deleted her messages before reading. She was calling almost everyday and it was obvious she wanted to patch up. I was not in a mood to continue with her as I had got a better match. I had decided to leave her and proceed with Pooja, today I was getting ready to meet my future mother in law.

I was super excited and was praying that Seema does not finds a way to come back. As, I was nearing Pooja house, I saw a crowd gathered, there was a massive accident that happened and people were blaming the truck driver for rash driving. I was least bothered and walked into the compound of my future brides bungalow.

As I neared the entrance, I could hear a girl giggling. I was just two feet away and I saw Arjun with a girl and they were in a cosy position. I went ahead as if nothing happened but I felt something strange and just halted for a couple of seconds. I could hear the girls voice and it sounded very familiar, I thought it must be my imagination but I gathered courage and looked back. It was Pooja and she was in arms of Arjun tightly wrapped.

I could not believe what I saw and just turned around and started walking towards the other end. Arjun was from a wealthy family, a womanizer who made friends only for fun. There was no doubt she must have got physical but why she came in my life, I was dumbstruck. While cursing myself and walking towards my home, I heard people talking about the accident which happened because of the drivers negligence. A girl had died and people were saying in whispers that It could be a suicide. For a unknown reason, I stopped and asked about the death that happened. It was a girl from near by locality and a truck ran over her killing her instantly. After some more questioning, I happened to get the name of the girl. I was devastated and something broke inside me. I bend down and started crying but there was no one to console me.

I quickly pulled my mobile and started reading Seema’s messages. In total she had sent 105 messages in last one hour, I started reading the messages, it was clear, crystal clear. She knew about this fake love story, was trying to warn me since last 15 days, not to get involved with Pooja. It was all planned by Arjun to avenge the scuffle that happened between us. I was used as a scapegoat.I remembered Seema with a heavy heart and her words circled around me ” You may hate me someday for any reason but I will love you always “.

I was responsible for her death..
